Medical disclaimer
The information on this site is general information about medicines. It does not replace advice from a doctor, a pharmacist or another qualified healthcare professional.
Three different kinds of information
It helps to keep three things apart.
- Regulatory information
- What national medicines authorities publish about the medicines they authorise: names, active ingredients, pharmaceutical forms, packs, marketing status and official documents. It describes medicines in general, not whether a medicine suits a particular person.
- Home Med Cabinet grouping
- How this site organizes that information: one page per active substance, readable categories of pharmaceutical form, one availability line per medicine. It helps you find information. It is neither a statement by the authority nor a clinical judgement.
- Individual medical advice
- A decision about your health, or about a medicine for you. Only a doctor, pharmacist or other healthcare professional who knows your situation can give it. This site does not.
What this site does not provide
This site does not provide:
- diagnosis of any condition
- treatment recommendations for a particular person
- dosage recommendations
- advice on whether one medicine can replace another
- emergency medical advice
The same active ingredient is not the same medicine
Medicines that contain the same active ingredient can differ in strength, form, route of administration and other ingredients, and in what they are authorised for.
Listing them together is not a suggestion that one can replace another.
When to ask a professional
Ask a doctor or a pharmacist before starting, stopping or changing a medicine, and whenever you are unsure whether a medicine is right for you.
Read the patient leaflet that comes with your medicine.
In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.
Accuracy and freshness
The data is copied from official sources and can lag behind the authority’s latest changes. The authority’s own record is the reference.
